+ portability fixes from xtraeme for his Linux distribution:
	+ add search for ar(1) into autoconf (I fixed this differently
	  so as not to rely on an automake check)
	+ define __printflike if it's not already defined
	+ fix missing asprintf (I fixed this differently)
